This old Stone house was more than just a home
For a while, It was the only place I did not feel alone
We would play out in the creek in papaw’s boots
that were way too big for our feet
The strange comfort of cigarette smoke filling the air
And the way it would stay in your hair
Every celebration was a treat because it meant that we would all gather and eat
Sometimes it felt like the love flowing around was bigger than that house could hold
and one more hug could make it implode
I cherish the times I would sit down with you to share our laughs and our views
Time has changed a lot but there are things that cannot be forgot
These memories bring a smile to my face and for a moment the reality just fades away
